MiG-29 photo from linked article

The article on this link is just too cool. It’s a must-read for Viper, Eagle, & Fulcrum lovers! Jim Rotramel recently alerted me to the most interesting F-15/F-16/MiG-29 flying article I’ve ever read. Click the photo above or the link below to jump to the article. It’s quite long, but a fascinating read–I’ll bet you don’t stop until you get to the end.

How To Win In A Dogfight: Stories From A Pilot Who Flew F-15s, F-16s And MiGs

I still have a few of my 1/32, 1/48 & 1/72 MiG-29 Fulcrum decal sets left. About a thousand guys have asked my why I’ve never done Viper or USAF Eagle decal sets*. I love both jets, but the simple truth is that every other decal company has done about a hundred F-15/F-16 decal sheets each and I just never saw the need for "yet another Viper or Eagle decal set." I do have a very few of my 1/48 & 1/72 Israeli F-15 Baz decal sets left.

MiG-29 Fulcrum A, German Air Force Fighter Wing 73 "Steinhoff," 2003 "Farewell USA" Tour MULTIPLE SHEET SET! This jet has a beautiful stylized American flag on one side and a German flag on the other. The unit will transition to Eurofighters in the near future and this scheme is in honor of their last trip to the US in Fulcrums. From May to July, 2003, Staffel 731 of JG 73 "Steinhoff" sent seven MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters on their final deployment to North America. Home based at Laage Air Base near Rostock on Germany’s Baltic coast, the unit will transition to Eurofighters later in 2003. One jet, 29+10, was painted in a special scheme to commemorate the occasion. A stylized flag of the unit’s home country, Germany was painted on the starboard side of the fuselage and wings, and a stylized American flag was painted on the port side. The flag sections flowed from the front fuselage on each side onto both the tops and bottoms of the wings. Only one jet was painted in this scheme. This final deployment went from Burlington, VT, on 8 May 2003, to Eglin AFB, FL, for Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT) as well as AA-10 Alamo and AA-11 Archer live fire exercises over the Gulf of Mexico. Their MiG-29s departed the US for the final time on 7 July 2003.
