Description
Air Force A-7D Hot SLUFs #2. Don’t know why, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the USAF SLUFs, maybe because of the cool markings over the years. First is a sharkmouthed SEA combat jet, 70-0982, flown by Lt Riggs, 388 TFW, 3rd TFS, Korat RTAFB, Thailand. The second jet is also a SEA combat veteran, 71-0354, and also carried a prominent (but different!) sharkmouth. It was flown by Capt Don Cornell, this time from the 354 TFW, also at Korat RTAFB, Thailand, December 1972 (both are in standard SEA camouflage). The SEA wraparound camouflage on our final bird is VERY cool! It is 73-0996, nicknamed “Speedwell,” 140 TFW, 120 TFS, Colorado ANG. This jet was the personal mount of the wing commander when the unit won the 1981 TAC Gunsmoke competition.
