Description
F-15E Artful Eagles #3, “4th But First” At War. MULTIPLE SHEET SET. Three “nose art” F-15E Strike Eagles in Operation Iraqi Freedom. 89-0487 was named “Lucky” because of its helicopter kill during the first Gulf War (they dropped a BOMB on it to knock it out of the air!) there’s more to this story you can read on the instruction sheet. Next is 89-0484 “Crazy 8’s” with a long story on the instruction sheet as to how the name was derived. The final jet is 90-0230 “NANCY MARY,” a name derived from the phonetics “NM” which stands for “Needs Maintenance.” This inside joke acknowledged the amount of down time the jet required during the first eight days of the war, but the number of bomb mission markings on the nose show that she still made a major contribution! All jets are from the 335th FS, 4th FW.
