Description

F-105 Thunderchiefs #1. First is the extremely famous (infamous?) F-105D-31-RE flown by Capt Vic Vizcarra, 354th TFS/355th TFW, “Pussy Galore II,” Takhli, Thailand, October 1966. This artwork only lasted a few weeks, until the very religious Col Robert Scott (then commander of the 355th TFW and formerly a WW II Flying Tiger and author of the book God Is My Copilot) saw it and had a thundering apoplexy! NOTE: this jet is NOT a F-105B as stated in the book Roll Call Thud; no F-105Bs went to SEA, and it is NOT the same airframe as the equally infamous F-105D “Cherry Girl” featured correctly on one of our other decal sets. The second jet is the famous F-105D-25-RE flown by Major Buddy Jones, “Memphis Belle II,” 357th TFS, 355th TFW Takhli, Thailand, 1968. It was credited with two MiG kills and is currently on display at the US Air Force Museum.
