P-39 Airacobras #3. This is definitely the most fun P-39 set we ever did, featuring everything from a historically important bird to wild nose art to a natural metal scheme to an Italian scheme. First is William A. Shomo’s very first “Snooks,” a P-39Q of the 82nd TRG (he later earned the Medal of Honor flying a Mustang). Next is the striking P-39K Fireball, actually delivered to the USAAF by Bell Aircraft with this nose art already applied! A standout in any collection, the unarmed P-39D “Daisy Mae” sports an extremely unexpected natural metal finish and large nose art. The final subject is P-39N 97ج«جتهّجپ Squadriglia, Italian AF, in standard camouflage.
