Description
F/A-18 Hornet’s Revenge #3. Out of the pages of Operation Enduring Freedom to free Afghanistan from the yoke of Taliban oppression come these two Bugs from CVW-17 on the USS George Washington (CVN-73) during their July-Dec 2002combat cruise. The first bird is an F/A-18C flown by CDR R. P. Carpenter of the VFA-83 Rampagers. The standard TPS low-viz scheme features the name “Avery’s Aviator” and bomb mission markings on the nose. The second F/A-18C is the VFA-34 Blue Blasters CAG bird (in color but rather subdued markings) with CAPT Dana “Smudge” Potts name on the canopy rail. Both jets flew combat in Afghanistan and Iraq during this cruise.
