Description
Fw 190 Nose Art Special. Four magnificent mid-war 190s with nose art grace this set. First is the Fw 190 A-6, White 5, flown by Rudolf Huebl with 1./JG 1 during 1943. His personal insignia with the human head and nickname “Grog!” was painted under the canopy and three kill markings on the fin, and the checkerboard cowling and stylized eagle painted over the exhaust area are noteworthy. The second ship is another Fw 190 A-6 White 9, flown by Heinz-Guenther Lueck in 1./JG 1 during 1943. Another checkerboard-cowled bird, this one featured Lueck’s scotty dog insignia and nickname “Lucki” along with two kill markings painted on the rudder. Next is an Fw 190 A-7, White 20, flown by Hptm Schnoor of 1./JG 1 in April 1944. We give you Schnoor’s personal “double M” insignia in several color options since everybody is interpreting black & white photos and the actual color is not documented. The final subject in this set has Franz Steiner’s memorable “crapping birdie” insignia painted under the cockpit. It was an Fw 190 A-6, Red 13, of J.Gr.West (Fighter Replacement Group West).
