Description
PYN-up Decals P-39 Airacobra Cuties #1. Our PYN-up nose art decal technology gives you the ability to model the most impressive nose art ever applied to a fighter aircraft, P-39D-1-BE, 41-28267/Q, “Air-A-Cutie,” of the 8 FG/36 FS. This ship had huge reclining nudes painted on the forward fuselage on each side. The two female figures were completely different, as was the form of the name, on each side. Careful photo analysis allowed us to make a preliminary determination that the serial number of this bird could have been as shown; in any case it was painted in an olive drab box under the horizontal stabilizer on each side. Less famous and smaller, but arguably better quality nude artwork with the name “Julie” adorned P-39N-5-BE, 42-18802, #51, Lt Roy Owen, 35 FG/41 FS, New Guinea, Oct 43. One profile artist has depicted this ship with a tiger head and yellow #76 on the fuselage, but we’ve found no photos to substantiate this scheme, so our decal set provides only what we can confirm.
