Fischer and with the large white bomb insignia aft of the fuselage cross, 10.(Jabo)/JG 26, White 11, shot down on 20 May, 1942, after Fischer attempted to bomb a Royal Navy corvette new Newhaven; Bf 109F-4/B, flown by Uffz. Felix Sauer, 10.(Jabo)/JG 53, White 3, and featuring the Pik As insignia on the nose and the insignia of a bomb striking Malta in black on the white aft fuselage band.
