American and Russian ‘Cobras include P-39D “Border Buckaroo II/Black Fury” of the 110th TRS; P-39Q of a Soviet ace from 9th GvIAP with large a large eagle superimposed on a red disk and clutching a Soviet Guards insignia in his talons; and the P-39Q of Lt Marks named “Monkey” and “Kay” of the 8th FG. The final subject is the dramatically marked P-39Q-5 of Soviet ace Mikhail Rents of the 30th GvIAP. This bird sported 11 kill markings, large playing cards, and an aviation insignia, practically filling the entire side of the aircraft.
