Fw 190A Reich Defenders Part 1. Truly spectacular schemes on four Butcher Birds! First is A-6, 2./JG 1, Black 3, with a dramatic red/black checkerboard cowling and based in Holland in July 1943. Next is Fw 190 A-5 flown by Dietrich Wickop, Gruppenkommandeur, II./ JG1, Black 1 Bar. This ship has Wickop’s gigantic white/blue eagle presonal insignia AND the red serpent unit insignia! The third is Fw 190 A-8 flown by Hans Dortennman, Staffelkapitan, 4./ JG 54, Red 1 Bar, and sporting a blue RV band and yellow under cowl. The final bird is Fw 190 A-4, 1./JG 1, White 8. This ship is striking because of the white cowl with red under cowl and painted out insignia on the rear fuselage.
