Description
Bf 109 Great Gustavs. Three extremely famous Gustavs grace this set, which provides absolutely accurate markings for each. First is Bf 109G-6, Yellow 1 + ~, Lt. Erich Hartmann, 9./JG 52, Novosaporovyi, Russia, October 1943. Note the legendary “Karaya” heart under the cockpit and the yellow fuselage ID band that only goes around the bottom half of the fuselage. Also note the unusual demarcations lines on the undercowl yellow ID panel. Hartmann had “only” 120 kills at the time this ship was photographed. Hptm Anton Hackl’s Bf 109G-6, Black Double Chevron + I, Stab III./JG 11, Oldenburg, Germany, February 1944, comes next. Note the all-white fin and rudder, with 132 kills displayed on his scoreboard. Finally comes Major Hermann Graf’s famous tulip-nosed Bf 109G-6, Green 1, JGr. 50, Wiesbaden-Eberheim, Germany, 1943. Another bird with an all-white fin and rudder, Graf’s scoreboard shows 205 kills here.
