Description
Beautiful Jugs P-47s #3 PYN-up Decals. Two more famous T-Bolts with great nose art are included in this set, which features our special PYN-up “near photo realistic” nose art decals. First is Ralph K. “Kid” Hofer’s P-47C-5-RE, 41-6484, “Missouri Kid/Sho Me,” QP*L, 4 FG/334 FS. Not widely realized is the fact that Hofer’s nose art was “shaded” and not “flat” artwork, which makes this ship a perfect PYN-up subject. The second ship is a plum black painted P-47M, HV*J, of the 56 FG/61 FS. It also had the light blue outlined national insignia common to the 56th’s plum black scheme. This plane had a large portrait of the pilot’s wife painted on the nose and her name, Lorene, painted under the windscreen. Although it’s been claimed this nose art was a photo glued on to the cowl, clear photos of the ship prove it was clearly painted artwork.
