This set includes an oddly marked OS2U-3 from the USS New York in December 1944, a full-color prewar OS2U-1 on wheels from OV-3, assigned to the USS Mississippi in early 1941, a U.S. Coast Guard OS2U-3 in the unusual three-tone “scallop” scheme and featuring extremely unexpected nose art on the main float; and finally the famous OS2U-3 flown by LTJG D. F. Baxter into the middle of Truk lagoon under fire to rescue LT G. M. Blair who’s F6F Hellcat had been shot down. This final bird was assigned to VCS-10 on the USS Baltimore.
